Dr. Cannon To

BVM&S PgC (Small Animal Surgery)

Dr. Cannon To, the founder of Nimble Veterinary Hospital, brings years of experience and a passion for providing individualised care to every patient he meets.

From a young age, Dr. Cannon knew he was destined to care for animals. Growing up in the local area, he found peace and joy in the company of pets, which inspired his lifelong passion for veterinary medicine. After earning a degree from the prestigious Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies in Edinburgh, Scotland, Dr. Cannon completed a year-long surgical and diagnostic imaging internship at a private referral hospital in the UK. He then pursued advanced studies, earning a Postgraduate Certificate in Small Animal Surgery.

Over the years, Dr. Cannon has gained extensive experience working in different veterinary practices both in the United Kingdom and in Australia. In addition to offering locum services across Sydney, he has provided internal surgical referrals for one of the major corporate practices and mentored new graduate veterinarians. Dr. Cannon’s holistic approach combines thorough medical care with deep compassion, treating every patient as if they were his own.

Returning to his local neighbourhood, Dr. Cannon founded Nimble Veterinary Hospital to serve the community that shaped him. He is committed to making a difference in the lives of both pets and their families, one visit at a time.

Dr. Sandy Leang BVSc

Dr Sandy Leang

BVSc

Dr Sandy brings a decade of veterinary experience and a genuine love for diagnostic problem-solving to the Nimble Vets team. A University of Sydney graduate, she has spent the past ten years honing her skills across Sydney, Melbourne, and regional Victoria before returning home to Sydney.

Dr Sandy has pursued further studies in Emergency and Critical Care and Internal Medicine, developing a particular passion for diagnostic imaging and soft tissue surgery. Her diverse career journey, from bustling city clinics to quieter regional practices, has given her a rich foundation of knowledge and the ability to tailor individualised care for each patient she meets. She loves the detective work of diagnostics and the satisfaction of helping pets feel their best.

Outside the clinic, Dr Sandy enjoys unwinding at wine bars, soaking up the sunshine on picnic blankets, and spending time with her rescue companions: Harriet, a gentle wolfhound cross; Cakey, a charming domestic shorthair; and her collection of discus fish. She's thrilled to be part of the Nimble Vets community and looks forward to caring for your pets with skill, warmth, and attention to detail.

Dr Avril Lim

BVSc MVS MANZCVS (Small Animal Medicine) DACVIM-CA

Avril is one of only a handful of registered specialists in small animal internal medicine in Australia. She loves helping pets with tricky medical conditions, using her years of specialist training and experience to find answers and provide the very best care for her patients.

After graduating from the University of Melbourne in 2011, Avril spent several years in general practice before pursuing further study and specialist training. This journey took her across Australia and overseas, including time at the Royal Veterinary College in London, Colorado State University, and UC Davis in California. Along the way, she completed a Master of Veterinary Studies, achieved membership with the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists, and became a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine.

Her special interests include endocrinology, gastroenterology, and immunology—but what really drives her is seeing her patients feel better and helping their families understand and manage complex health issues. She also cares deeply about the wellbeing of vets and nurses and is passionate about exploring new technologies to make veterinary care more effective and sustainable.

Most recently, Avril has launched Animal Life Source, a new animal blood donor bank designed to give critically ill pets access to life-saving transfusions.

When she’s not in the clinic, you’ll often find Avril out in nature—planting trees with Bushcare, hiking, or horseback riding. At home, she treasures time with her two much-loved pets: Mochi the cat, and Yoyo, a sweet rescue dog who recently joined the family.

Max

Clinic Cat & Chief Supervisor

Max is Nimble Vets' resident feline and official greeter, having followed some of our nurses from their previous clinic - because where his favourite people go, Max goes too.

A friendly and affectionate presence around the hospital, Max takes his role seriously. Whether he's welcoming clients at the door, supervising the team to ensure everything runs smoothly, or quality-testing the comfort of every available napping spot, Max is always on duty (when he's not snoozing, that is).

Max's true passion in life? Food. He's never met a meal - or snack, or treat - he didn't love, and he's more than happy to remind the team when it's time to eat. Between his busy schedule of chin scratches, belly rubs, and coordinating clinic morale, Max has become an irreplaceable member of the Nimble Vets family.

If you visit us, don't be surprised if Max saunters over to say hello. He's always ready to offer a purr, a head bump, or simply some quiet companionship while you wait.
